Instructions
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk and dark chocolate chips. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the chocolate mixture. Stir well to combine, and then remove from heat, allowing it to cool slightly.
In a blender, combine the cooled chocolate mixture and the ice cubes. Blend on high speed until the mixture becomes frosty and smooth; this usually takes about 30 seconds.
Taste the blend and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more powdered sugar.
Pour the frozen hot chocolate into chilled glasses.
Top generously with whipped cream and sprinkle chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder on top for a decorative finish.
Serve immediately with a straw or a long spoon to enjoy the chilly chocolaty goodness!
