Ingredients
3
medium
apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and cut into matchsticks
1
cup
all-purpose flour
1
teaspoon
cinnamon
0.5
teaspoon
salt
2
large
eggs
1
cup
breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
2
tablespoons
brown sugar
1
spray
cooking spray or oil for misting
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, and salt, and mix well.
In another bowl, whisk the eggs until frothy.
In a third bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and brown sugar until evenly incorporated.
Take a handful of apple matchsticks and coat them in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
Dip the floured apple pieces into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
Finally, coat the apples in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs adhere well.
Place the breaded apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with cooking spray or mist with oil.
Air fry the apple fries for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
Carefully remove the apple fries from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping. Garnish with powdered sugar.
