Begin by cutting the mozzarella cheese into 3-4 inch long sticks, if not already pre-cut. Place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up, making them easier to coat.
In three separate bowls, set up your breading stations: one with flour mixed with salt and pepper, one with beaten eggs, and the third with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, dried oregano, and paprika.
Take each mozzarella stick from the freezer and first coat it in the flour, shaking off the excess.
Next, dip it in the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off before moving to the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure each stick is completely covered; pressing gently into the breadcrumbs can help adhere them better.
Once coated, place the mozzarella sticks on a plate and repeat the process for all sticks. You can optionally spray or drizzle a little olive oil over them for extra crispiness.
Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
Arrange the mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them for air circulation. Depending on your air fryer’s capacity, you might need to do this in batches.
Air fry the mozzarella sticks for 6-8 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to avoid melting too much.
Once done, remove them from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute.
Serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can spray or drizzle olive oil over the sticks before air frying.
